The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal hideouts across the state, arresting 147 suspects and recovering 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, battle axes, knives, charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The operation, carried out under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III, was part of the Command’s sustained efforts to flush out criminal elements and deny hoodlums safe havens across Lagos.
According to the Command, the operation was conducted at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, following credible intelligence on criminal activities at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots.
A joint team of police operatives drawn from various formations of the Lagos State Command subsequently launched a coordinated raid on the identified locations.
During the operation, a total of 147 suspects were arrested. Recovered exhibits included 250 expanded cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one pair of scissors, assorted charms, 22 machetes and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual involvement in criminal activities. The Command said those found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE III across Lagos, stressing that the operation would continue to target criminal hideouts and ensure that criminals have no safe haven in the state.
CP Fatai also urged residents to continue providing the police with timely and credible information that could assist in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and strengthening public safety across the state.
