The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring peaceful, credible and secure councillorship by-elections in parts of the state, following a courtesy visit by officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
The LASIEC delegation, led by its Chairman, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd), visited the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, where they condoled with the Commissioner of Police over the passing of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration (DC Admin).
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile also congratulated CP Fatai on his appointment and commended the Lagos State Police Command for its professionalism and proactive role in previous electoral exercises across the state.
During the visit, the LASIEC Chairman informed the Commissioner of Police of the forthcoming councillorship by-elections scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area (Ward C), Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (Ward H), and Somolu Local Government Area (Ward F).
The Commission appealed for sustained collaboration and support from the Lagos State Police Command to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process in the affected areas.
Responding, CP Fatai expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the strong partnership between both institutions. He assured the delegation that adequate security personnel would be deployed before, during and after the elections to safeguard lives, property and the integrity of the electoral process.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and providing a secure environment for voters, electoral officials and other stakeholders throughout the by-election exercise.
