MAGGI Opens Its Value Chain to Stakeholders, Reinforces Commitment to Food Safety and Quality
Journalists, consumers, distributors and suppliers gain firsthand insight into production processes at Nestlé’s Agbara Factory
As part of activities commemorating the 2026 World Food Safety Day, MAGGI has strengthened stakeholder understanding of food quality and safety through a series of immersive engagements designed to showcase the journey of its products from farm to table.
The initiative brought together key stakeholders across the MAGGI value chain, including suppliers, distributors, consumers, journalists, and digital content creators, underscoring the brand’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and continuous stakeholder engagement.
Through interactive sessions and practical experiences, participants gained deeper insights into the systems, processes, and partnerships that ensure the delivery of quality products to millions of households across Nigeria.
During the engagements, suppliers were exposed to MAGGI’s stringent quality requirements and manufacturing standards, while distributors received guidance on best practices in product handling, storage, and warehousing to preserve product quality throughout the supply chain. Consumers also interacted directly with experts, learning more about the ingredients, production processes, and expertise behind MAGGI products.
The programme culminated in an exclusive factory tour at Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara Factory, where journalists and digital content creators witnessed the transformation of locally sourced soya beans into MAGGI cubes through advanced manufacturing processes and carefully controlled fermentation techniques.
Participants gained valuable insights into how Nigerian-grown agricultural produce is processed using modern technology to deliver the taste, consistency, and quality that have become synonymous with the MAGGI brand.
The factory experience also highlighted the link between traditional African food preparation methods and modern food manufacturing. Visitors explored how fermentation techniques employed in MAGGI production are inspired by age-old practices familiar to many Nigerian households through local seasonings such as iru, dawadawa, and ogiri.
A major highlight of the visit was the opportunity to observe the rigorous quality assurance and food safety measures integrated throughout the production chain. From sourcing and testing raw materials to manufacturing, packaging, and distribution, participants witnessed the scientific expertise, continuous monitoring, and strict standards that safeguard product quality at every stage.
Speaking on the initiative, Funmi Osin
eye, Category Manager, Culinary, Nestlé Nigeria, said MAGGI’s extensive value chain requires collective responsibility in maintaining quality and food safety standards.
“MAGGI reaches millions of consumers through a value chain that includes farmers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, consumers, and many other partners. We believe quality and food safety are shared responsibilities, which is why we continuously engage stakeholders across the value chain to build understanding, strengthen collaboration, and provide greater visibility into the journey behind our products,” she said.
According to her, opening up the production process to stakeholders helps deepen understanding of the expertise, ingredients, and systems that contribute to the quality consumers have come to trust from MAGGI.
Also speaking, Talla Fall, Factory Manager, Nestlé Nigeria Agbara Factory, emphasized that quality and food safety remain central to the company’s operations.
“At Nestlé, quality and food safety are embedded into every stage of our operations. From sourcing ingredients and testing raw materials to manufacturing and packaging, our teams work diligently every day to uphold the high standards that consumers expect from MAGGI,” he stated.
The programme also featured an interactive cooking session where participants experienced the practical use of MAGGI products in meal preparation. The session sparked discussions on taste, nutrition, quality, and responsible product use while offering participants firsthand experience with the brand.
Through initiatives such as these, MAGGI says it remains committed to promoting transparency, strengthening stakeholder confidence, and delivering quality products that support consumers in preparing tasty and nutritious meals every day.
