MarkHack 5.0 has reinforced its position as Africa’s premier platform for marketing, media, and technology innovation, bringing together top industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore the future of artificial intelligence and human-centered marketing.
Held at the prestigious Oriental Hotel on June 5, 2026, the conference was organised by GDM Group in partnership with Eko Innovation Centre and Brand Communicator under the theme “The Culture Algorithm: AI × Human Experience.”
The event moved beyond conventional discussions about artificial intelligence, offering practical insights and strategic direction on how brands can thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world while maintaining authentic human connections.
Opening the conference, Joshua Ajayi emphasized MarkHack’s role as a catalyst for shaping the future of the marketing industry. This vision was echoed by Dr. Bolajoko Bayo-Ajayi, who highlighted the urgent need for marketing professionals to adapt to rapid technological transformation.
A major highlight of the conference was the first plenary session led by Osato Evbuomwan on “Trust That Sells: How AI is Changing What Consumers Believe and Buy.” Panelists explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping consumer trust, purchasing decisions, and brand engagement, while offering practical strategies for developing culturally relevant campaigns in today’s digital economy.
The conference gained further momentum with a keynote address by Victoria Ajayi, who examined the growing challenge of the “trust deficit” in the AI era. She stressed that while AI enhances efficiency and scale, lasting brand value remains rooted in human judgment, authenticity, and ethical leadership.
The second plenary session focused on the evolving role of AI in African storytelling. Led by Mabel Adeteye, the discussion explored how brands can leverage technology to create authentic narratives that resonate deeply with African audiences while preserving cultural relevance.
Beyond the plenaries, participants engaged in intensive breakout sessions designed to translate theory into practical implementation. Discussions centered on harnessing AI for consumer insights, campaign optimization, audience targeting, and market-specific strategies tailored to African realities.
One of the featured breakout sessions, “From Data to Demand: Making AI Work in Real African Markets,” brought together experts from various sectors to demonstrate how businesses can leverage artificial intelligence to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer engagement.
Simultaneously, another session titled “Local by Design: Rethinking African Consumer Insight for Modern Brands” examined the importance of culturally informed marketing strategies, emphasizing the need for brands to remain deeply connected to local consumer realities while embracing technological innovation.
Participants described the conference as a unique convergence of technology, creativity, and commerce, where practical solutions and actionable insights took center stage. The event successfully bridged the gap between innovation and implementation, equipping marketers and business leaders with tools to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
As artificial intelligence continues to redefine global marketing and communication, MarkHack 5.0 has further established itself as a leading platform for shaping the future of brand engagement in Africa, setting the tone for how organizations will compete, connect, and create value in the years ahead.
