NAWOJ Lagos Pays Courtesy Visit to Lagos State’s First Female Speaker

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter, led by its Chairperson, Dr. Mrs. Adeola Ekine, made a historic courtesy visit to the newly appointed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, on Monday, January 20, 2025. This event celebrated Rt. Hon. Meranda’s landmark achievement as the first female Speaker in the history of the Assembly.

 

During the visit, Dr. Ekine congratulated the Speaker on her groundbreaking role, emphasizing its significance as a major milestone for women in leadership across Nigeria. She commended Rt. Hon. Meranda’s dedication to governance and her efforts in promoting gender inclusivity in politics. Dr. Ekine highlighted the inspirational value of the Speaker’s accomplishment, noting how it encourages women and girls to break barriers and actively engage in leadership and governance.
