A trag ic road accident involving a truck and a commercial bus has claimed the life of one person and left six others injured along the Isolo/Okota corridor of the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway in Lagos.

The fatal crash occurred late on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at about 10:25 p.m., according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command.

The accident involved a blue Mack truck and a yellow Suzuki Every commercial bus, both reportedly without registration numbers at the time of the incident.

Preliminary findings by the FRSC revealed that excessive speeding led to the collision.

A total of seven male adults were involved in the accident. One victim lost his life, while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

FRSC rescue officials from the Apapa Unit Command responded promptly to the distress call and evacuated the injured victims to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Surulere, for emergency treatment.

The damaged vehicles were later handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force at the Isolo Police Station for further investigation.

Reacting to the incident, the Lagos Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, cautioned motorists against speeding and reckless driving, noting that speed violation remains one of the major causes of fatal road crashes across the country.

He advised drivers, especially commercial vehicle operators, to strictly obey speed regulations, remain cautious behind the wheel, and make safety a top priority at all times.

The FRSC Lagos Sector Command also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
