The Nigeria Police Force has officially cleared the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh, of allegations linked to the Ajiran murder case, stating that the matter has already been investigated and is now before a competent court for determination.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 4, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the Police explained that the criminal case involving AIG Jimoh was thoroughly investigated and subsequently charged to court based on legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The statement was a response to allegations recently made on social media by activist Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, against the senior police officer.
According to the Force, since the matter is now sub judice, it falls within the jurisdiction of the judiciary, and the Police will not engage in media trials or public debates over issues already before the court.
The Police further disclosed that, in line with internal accountability procedures, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) invited AIG Moshood Jimoh for questioning.
Following a comprehensive review, the Force found no grounds for further administrative action and directed that the judicial process should proceed without interference.
The statement also revealed that on July 30, 2026, the Force CID Headquarters in Abuja invited VeryDarkMan to appear before investigators and present credible evidence to substantiate the allegations he made publicly.
Reaffirming its commitment to due process, transparency and the rule of law, the Nigeria Police Force stressed that every officer remains accountable under the Constitution, the Police Act 2020 and established Force Orders, emphasizing that no individual is above the law.
The Force, therefore, urged VeryDarkMan to honour the invitation and cooperate with investigators while allowing both the judicial and administrative processes to take their lawful course.
