The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has formally decorated 30 senior police officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP).
The ceremony, held on Tuesday at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, marked the official investiture of the officers whose elevation reflects years of dedicated, meritorious and selfless service to the Nigeria Police Force.
The newly decorated officers comprised 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and 17 Commissioners of Police.
Congratulating the officers, IGP Disu described their promotions as more than recognition of past service, stressing that their new ranks came with greater responsibilities and higher expectations from both the Force and the Nigerian public.
The IGP acknowledged the sacrifices made by the officers throughout their careers, noting that the demanding nature of police service had often required them to miss birthdays, family celebrations and other important personal milestones in the course of duty.
He also commended the families of the newly promoted officers for their sacrifices, patience and unwavering support, which, he said, had contributed significantly to the officers’ successful careers.
Charging the newly decorated officers on their new responsibilities, IGP Disu urged them to lead with uncompromising integrity, compassion and humanity. He stressed that commanders who genuinely prioritise the welfare of the men and women under their command would earn their loyalty, commitment and support.
The IGP further urged them to build public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through their conduct and decisions, mentor younger officers, and provide leadership worthy of the aspirations of the next generation of police officers.
He advised the officers to wear their new ranks with humility as much as pride, assuring them that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the welfare, professional development and operational readiness of its personnel.

Also decorated were the newly elevated Commissioners of Police: CP Nelson Nwamanna; CP Bolanle Aremu Murtala; CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo; CP Ajayi Oluyemi; CP Rita Oyintare Oki; CP Iya Umar Mohammed; CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu; CP Nurudeen A. Sabo; CP Tijani Murtala; CP Yakubu Mohammed; CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman; CP Akingbade C. Adeyinka; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed; CP Samuel Erale Etaifo; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji; CP Ibrahim Umar D. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr Oyekachukwu Ibezim; Deputy National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Zainab Ibrahim; Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, who represented the Governor of Jigawa State; Engr.
