Union Bank of Nigeria has received fresh recognition for its commitment to gender inclusion, emerging as the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion at the Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA) 2026.

The prestigious event, held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, also honoured Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs. Olufunmilola Aluko, who was named among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.

The twin recognitions underscore Union Bank’s growing role in promoting gender diversity, women’s leadership and inclusive economic participation through initiatives designed to empower women, female entrepreneurs and professionals.

The Bank’s gender inclusion efforts span an inclusive workplace and financial ecosystem, with support initiatives covering tailored financial products, capacity building, mentorship, networking opportunities and programmes aimed at expanding women’s access to economic opportunities.

Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” WIMCA 2026 brought together prominent female marketing and communications professionals from across Africa to deliberate on industry trends, leadership, resilience and the advancement of women within the brand, marketing and communications ecosystem.

Described as one of the continent’s largest gatherings of female marketing and communications professionals, the conference featured leading voices and industry experts, including Mrs. Aluko, alongside other prominent brand and communications executives.

Reacting to the recognitions, Aluko said the honours reinforced the Bank’s determination to make gender inclusion a key driver of institutional excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.

“Union Bank’s recognition at WIMCA 2026 is a strong validation of our sustained commitment to advancing gender inclusion as a driver of institutional excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.

“We are proud to champion platforms and initiatives that empower women to lead with confidence, build meaningful careers, and contribute significantly to the evolution of the marketing and communications industry.

“This honour further strengthens our resolve to create greater opportunities for women across our workplace, customer base, and wider society.”

WIMCA was established by Brand Communicator, a Nigerian brand and marketing publication, as a platform dedicated to celebrating female leadership and promoting greater participation by women in the brand, marketing and communications industry.

Union Bank said it would continue to support and engage with platforms that promote women’s empowerment, inclusive growth and meaningful participation across the marketing and communications landscape.

The Bank reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening opportunities for women while contributing to the continued development of Nigeria’s brand, marketing and communications ecosystem.
