The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and prosecuted a domestic violence suspect, Emeka Joseph, following a viral video that drew public attention to the alleged assault of Ezeka Chisom.
According to the Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was physically assaulted by the suspect, with whom she had been cohabiting. The attack reportedly left the victim with injuries to her face.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspect has been charged to court and subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The matter has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating domestic violence and protecting vulnerable members of society.
He stressed that the Command maintains a zero-tolerance stance on all forms of domestic abuse and assured residents that reports of violence and abuse would continue to receive swift and professional attention.
The Commissioner also urged members of the public to promptly report incidents of domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or formation to enable timely intervention and justice.
