Preparations have entered the final phase for the maiden edition of the WINSEC Summit & Awards 2026 (Women in Security Summit and Awards), a groundbreaking national initiative aimed at celebrating excellence, courage, and outstanding service within Nigeria’s security and public service sectors.
The highly anticipated summit, scheduled to hold in Abuja, is expected to attract top stakeholders from the security community, media, civil society organisations, and government institutions for strategic discussions focused on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and promoting greater inclusion of women in security-related roles.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Aishatu Ibrahim, described the summit as a landmark platform created to recognise individuals and institutions whose dedication and sacrifices continue to advance peace, safety, and national development across the country.
According to Ibrahim, the summit is more than just an awards ceremony, noting that it is designed to serve as a strategic forum for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of innovative ideas for addressing emerging security challenges in Nigeria.
She disclosed that preparations are currently in top gear with less than four weeks to the event, adding that the organising committee remains committed to delivering a world-class and impactful summit that meets international standards.
Ibrahim further emphasised that the success of the inaugural edition is crucial to establishing WINSEC as a sustainable annual platform dedicated to promoting women’s participation, leadership, and visibility within Nigeria’s security sector.
The summit is being organised in partnership with leading media and professional bodies, reflecting its broad-based and multi-sectoral approach anchored on professionalism, transparency, and stakeholder engagement.
Organisers also revealed that further details regarding keynote speakers, programme highlights, and participation guidelines will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
