FRSC Special Patrol: 2,224 Offenders Arrested for 2,944 Traffic Violations in Lagos, Ogun
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS2 Zonal Command, has recorded significant enforcement successes during a three-day Zonal Special Intervention Patrol (ZSIP), code-named “AABO (Safety)”, conducted simultaneously across Lagos and Ogun States from July 20 to 22, 2026.
The operation, coordinated under the leadership of the Zonal Commanding Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olufemi Matthew Olonisaye, was aimed at improving compliance with traffic regulations, tackling dangerous driving practices, strengthening enforcement, and reducing road traffic crashes across the zone.
At the end of the exercise, 2,224 traffic offenders were apprehended for committing 2,944 offences, out of which 1,423 were classified as major focus offences requiring immediate enforcement attention.
The daily breakdown of the operation is as follows:
July 20, 2026
RS2.1 Lagos Sector Command: 413 offenders arrested for 549 traffic offences, including 178 focus offences.
RS2.2 Ogun Sector Command: 301 offenders arrested for 392 traffic offences, including 147 focus offences.
July 21, 2026
RS2.1 Lagos Sector Command: 483 offenders arrested for 646 traffic offences, including 398 focus offences.
RS2.2 Ogun Sector Command: 276 offenders arrested for 386 traffic offences, including 112 focus offences.
July 22, 2026
RS2.1 Lagos Sector Command: 446 offenders arrested for 592 traffic offences, including 364 focus offences.
RS2.2 Ogun Sector Command: 305 offenders arrested for 379 traffic offences, including 224 focus offences.
Speaking on the outcome of the exercise, Assistant Corps Marshal Olonisaye commended personnel of the participating commands for their professionalism, resilience, dedication, and commitment to protecting lives and property on the highways.
He stressed that the objective of the operation went beyond sanctioning offenders, noting that the exercise was designed to discourage dangerous driving behaviours, promote voluntary compliance with traffic laws, enhance public safety, and make roads safer for all users.
The Zonal Commanding Officer further disclosed that the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, mni, FCA, had directed that the Zonal Special Intervention Patrol be conducted monthly across all Zonal Commands.
According to him, the directive forms part of the Corps’ operational strategy to achieve its target of a 10 per cent reduction in road traffic deaths and injuries in 2026.
He noted that sustained enforcement, strategic public enlightenment, intelligence-driven patrols, and visible enforcement operations remained critical to achieving the objective.
Assistant Corps Marshal Olonisaye urged motorists to strictly obey traffic regulations and avoid speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, route violations, the use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances, and other unsafe practices capable of causing road traffic crashes.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Road Safety Corps to sustaining intelligence-driven enforcement operations, strategic patrols, stakeholder engagement, and continuous public enlightenment across Lagos and Ogun States in the collective pursuit of safer roads and the preservation of lives and property.
