In a remarkable demonstration of compassion, service, and community impact, Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, in collaboration with the Rotary E-Club of Ikoyi Metro Elite, Rotary Club of Adeniran Ogunsanya, and the Rotaract E-Club of Ikoyi Metro, successfully carried out their annual Maternal and Child Health Project at Onikan General Hospital on 25th July 2026.
The outreach transformed the hospital into a place of hope and celebration as Rotarians, Rotaractors, friends of Rotary, and distinguished guests gathered in large numbers to reaffirm Rotary’s unwavering commitment to saving lives and supporting quality healthcare.
The event was graced by the President of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, Rotarian Emeka Nwosu, alongside the President of the Rotary E-Club of Ikoyi Metro Elite, President of the Rotary Club of Adeniran Ogunsanya, the Rotaract E-Club of Ikoyi Metro, the Immediate Past President, Past Presidents, the Charter President, Rotarians, Rotaractors, friends, and guests whose presence reflected the spirit of unity that defines Rotary.
Addressing the gathering, President Rotarian Emeka Nwosu emphasized that the initiative was in line with Rotary International’s ethics, values, and commitment to humanitarian service.
“Today, we are carrying out our Maternal and Child Health Project, one of Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus. Before embarking on this intervention, our committee visited the hospital to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment. We identified critical gaps in medical equipment and essential supplies that are vital to improving patient care and ensuring safer deliveries for expectant mothers. Our presence here today is to support the hospital management with these much-needed medical items and contribute to better healthcare outcomes for mothers and their babies.”
True to that commitment, Rotary presented an array of medical equipment and healthcare consumables carefully selected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide quality maternal and neonatal care. These donations are expected to enhance patient management, improve treatment efficiency, and contribute to safer childbirth experiences.
Beyond the medical donations, the outreach touched lives on a personal level. Mothers receiving treatment at the hospital were presented with thoughtful gift items, creating an atmosphere of joy and appreciation.
