The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the immediate promotion of 17,952 junior police officers nationwide in a major move aimed at enhancing personnel welfare, boosting morale, and rewarding diligence, professionalism, and dedication to duty within the Nigeria Police Force.
This was disclosed in a press statement e-signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
According to the statement, the promotion exercise cuts across Commands and Formations nationwide and includes the elevation of 165 Sergeants to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals to the rank of Sergeant, and 17,714 Constables to the rank of Corporal.
The statement noted that the Inspector-General of Police described timely promotion as a vital component of the Force’s human resource management strategy and a key instrument for motivating officers to remain committed to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
IGP Disu emphasized that the promotion of deserving personnel reflects the commitment of the current police leadership to merit, career progression, and institutional development within the Force.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to view their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, professionalism, discipline, and dedication to service.
The police boss further urged the officers to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by carrying out their duties with integrity, respect for human rights, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to promoting excellence, rewarding hard work, and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in policing.
