Lagos Police Foil Armed Robbery Plot, Arrest Two Suspects with Gun and Live Cartridges
The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on crime with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size Danne gun alongside three live cartridges during a routine patrol in the Odogunyan area of the state.
The operation, carried out by police operatives in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group, led to the interception of the suspects, who attempted to flee after spotting the security team while carrying a handbag. The operatives swiftly pursued and apprehended them.
A search of the handbag revealed one locally made cut-to-size Danne gun and three live cartridges, believed to have been intended for criminal operations.
The suspects were identified as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29. They are currently in police custody and assisting investigators. Upon the conclusion of investigations, they will be charged to court.
Commending the professionalism and vigilance of the operatives and the local vigilante group, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, praised the successful collaboration that led to the arrest and recovery of the firearm.
He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State, warning criminals to abandon their unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
