Olam Agri has expanded its Integrated Feed & Protein (IFP) business into the ruminant nutrition market with the launch of its Tru Value cattle feed range in Nigeria, strengthening its growing portfolio of science-based animal nutrition solutions.

The launch, held in Kaduna State on September 10, 2026, marks a major step in the company’s strategy to broaden its feed business beyond poultry and aquaculture and provide specialised nutrition solutions across key livestock sectors.

The event attracted the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, government officials, commercial farmers, livestock industry stakeholders, development partners, distributors and media representatives.

Speaking at the launch, Sharad Gupta, President and Global Head, Integrated Feed & Protein, Olam Agri, said Nigeria was selected as the first market for the company’s expansion into ruminant nutrition because of its significant livestock potential and the growing need to improve productivity across the beef and dairy value chains.

> “Our entry into ruminant nutrition marks an important milestone in the evolution of Olam Agri’s feed business,” Gupta said.

He explained that the company was leveraging its experience in poultry and aquaculture nutrition to support more productive and sustainable cattle farming systems.

According to him, the initiative would help livestock farmers improve animal performance, strengthen food security and create greater value across Nigeria’s beef and dairy value chains.

Also speaking, Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, commended Olam Agri for the investment, stressing that improved animal nutrition was central to transforming Nigeria’s livestock sector.

He said quality feed could contribute significantly to improved growth rates, higher milk yields and better returns for farmers.

> “The transformation of Nigeria’s livestock sector begins with improving productivity at farm level. Quality animal nutrition remains one of the most important factors in achieving better growth rates, improved milk yields, and higher returns for our farmers,” the Minister said.

Maiha noted that the Federal Government remained committed to creating an enabling environment capable of attracting private-sector investment and encouraging innovation throughout the livestock value chain.

Three Products Target Beef, Dairy Production

The new Tru Value range comprises three specialised products designed to meet different cattle production needs.

Tru Value Beef Pellet is formulated to support efficient weight gain and help shorten fattening cycles, while Tru Value Beef Plus Pellet targets accelerated growth and improved finishing performance.

The third product, Tru Value Dairy Pellet, is designed to support increased milk production and overall herd productivity.

Olam Agri said the products were developed through extensive nutritional research and are formulated to provide balanced and consistent nutrition in every bag.

The company said the approach addresses two major challenges frequently experienced by livestock farmers using conventional feeding methods — inconsistent feed quality and unreliable supply.

Farmers who attended the launch also shared practical experiences on the benefits of structured feeding, highlighting improvements they had observed in their herds when compared with conventional feeding practices.

Nigeria as Launchpad for Wider Expansion

The launch further strengthens Olam Agri’s presence in Nigeria’s animal nutrition sector, where the company already has established operations in poultry and aquaculture feed production.

With Nigeria ranking among Africa’s major livestock markets, rising demand for animal protein and increasing efforts to improve herd productivity are creating new opportunities for commercial cattle farming and investment across the livestock value chain.

Olam Agri said its entry into ruminant nutrition represents the first step in a broader ambition to support more productive, sustainable and commercially viable livestock systems through quality nutrition, technical expertise and strategic partnerships.

The company added that its expanded feed portfolio would enable it to serve livestock producers across multiple species while contributing to improved productivity and food security.
