The vibrant world of gardening, nature and environmental sustainability will take centre stage in Lagos as Open Day for Gardeners returns for its fifth edition from August 28 to 30, 2026, at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC), 270 Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island.
The three-day event, which is free to attend, has evolved from a gathering of gardening enthusiasts and plant lovers into a dynamic community platform bringing together gardeners, conservationists, creatives, families, businesses and nature-inspired brands.
A major highlight of the 2026 edition is the Annual Garden Seminar holding on Friday, August 28, featuring former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, as special guest and seminar speaker.
With more than 50 vendors expected at the event, participants will have access to a wide range of plants, soils, garden pots and planters, gardening accessories, home fragrances, food and drinks.
The programme will also feature several activities designed to demonstrate the diverse ways nature connects with everyday life.
Among the attractions is the Plant Swap, anchored by Dr. Pamela Ajayi, founder of The Dawn Project. The initiative will provide participants with an opportunity to exchange plants, share gardening knowledge and encourage biodiversity across urban communities.
Other attractions include the Handcrafter Garden, which celebrates creativity and craftsmanship, and Flowers in Vase, an exotic botanical showcase highlighting the beauty, diversity and artistry of plants and floral arrangements.
Nature Meets Nigerian Fashion
Fashion enthusiasts will also have plenty to look forward to with Runway by Nature, a distinctive showcase blending the beauty of nature with Nigeria’s vibrant fashion industry.
The runway will feature Nigerian fashion brands and designers including Ethnyk, Ciar, Heritage by Funke, Lanre Da Silva, Mobos, HookedByLade and Misi’s Closet, among others.
Photography will equally feature prominently, with a Photo Competition to be judged by a distinguished panel including Dr. Desmond Majekodunmi and Dr. Roberts.
Specially curated photo spots will also be available, allowing visitors to capture memorable moments surrounded by plants, flowers and creative installations.
Driving Conversations on Conservation and Climate Resilience
Beyond gardening and lifestyle, Open Day for Gardeners 2026 will provide a platform for important conversations on environmental sustainability, with participation from the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and The Dawn Project.
The discussions will examine the relationship between everyday gardening and wider environmental priorities, including biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, land restoration and climate resilience.
Particular attention will be given to the objectives of the Great Green Wall initiative and how individuals and communities can contribute to environmental restoration through simple, sustainable practices.
Open Day for Gardeners has therefore grown beyond a conventional marketplace or exhibition. It has become a platform where people learn, connect, discover and celebrate the natural world.
