• 1,000 locally assembled laptops to be distributed nationwide in first phase

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has launched the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme to expand access to affordable consumer credit for laptops, internet-enabled devices and other digital tools.

The initiative, whose acronym stands for Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices, was unveiled on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre (AATC), Abuja.

Launched in partnership with the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, C.L.I.C.K.D. is designed to remove the upfront financial barriers preventing many Nigerians from acquiring the devices required to learn, work and participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

The inaugural phase targets 3MTT fellows undergoing training through the Learn2Earn platform, many of whom are acquiring high-demand digital skills without access to the laptops and other devices needed to complete their training and transition into employment or entrepreneurship.

Under the first phase, 1,000 locally assembled laptops will be provided to eligible fellows across Nigeria. A total of 77 beneficiaries in Abuja received their devices at the launch ceremony, marking the commencement of the nationwide rollout.

The programme is being delivered in collaboration with Fidelity Bank as credit administration partner, while NASENI and Imose Technologies are participating as device manufacturers.

The focus on locally assembled laptops, according to the organisers, demonstrates how responsible consumer credit can simultaneously promote digital inclusion, strengthen local manufacturing and deepen Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.

The launch was chaired by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who served as the Chief Launcher of the programme.

Speaking at the event, Tijani said Nigeria’s digital economy could only thrive when citizens have access to both the skills and tools required to succeed.

“Through C.L.I.C.K.D., we are helping qualifying Nigerians participate more fully in the opportunities created by the 3MTT initiative while strengthening local manufacturing through the use of locally assembled devices,” the Minister said.

Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Engr. Uzoma Nwagba, said the initiative was designed to transform digital devices from barriers into opportunities.

According to him, embedding affordable consumer credit into a national talent development programme such as 3MTT would provide qualifying Nigerians with a responsible pathway to acquire the tools needed to learn, work and earn.

“C.L.I.C.K.D. transforms digital devices from a barrier into an opportunity. By embedding affordable consumer credit into a national talent programme like 3MTT, starting with locally assembled laptops, we are giving qualifying Nigerians a responsible pathway to the tools they need to learn, work and earn, while advancing the Federal Government’s vision for industrial development and job creation on both sides,” Nwagba said.

CREDICORP said C.L.I.C.K.D. is its flagship device financing initiative and is open to working Nigerians nationwide, with the 3MTT Programme serving as the launch partner for the first phase.

The corporation said the scheme is designed to evolve into an open, multi-partner initiative and has invited additional Participating Financial Institutions, device manufacturers and technology vendors to join the programme.

It also stated that it would continue to collaborate with the Central Bank of Nigeria, training institutions and other strategic partners to scale device financing across the 3MTT network and beyond.

Interested Nigerians can register for the programme through the CREDICORP website.
