The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safety and security across the state, insisting that Lagos remains fully prepared, secure, and capable of confronting any emerging security threat.

This assurance was reinforced on Friday, 5th June, when the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, acting on the directive of the Governor of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, presented bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Area Commanders, and Tactical Squad Commanders across the state.

The initiative, according to LSSTF, is part of a sustained effort to strengthen Lagos’ security architecture and ensure frontline security leaders are adequately equipped to respond effectively to threats.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ogunsan declared that Lagos remains out of bounds for criminal elements, stressing that the state’s security framework is strong, deliberate, and continuously reinforced.

“For those who intend to perpetrate evil, Lagos is not the place. We are fully committed to securing this state with every resource at our disposal,” he said. “These officers represent a fraction of the men and women dedicated to protecting lives and maintaining public order.”

He explained that the decision to prioritize senior police leadership with protective gear was strategic, aimed at strengthening command capacity and improving operational confidence across all security formations.

“We have been consistently supporting all security agencies in Lagos, but today’s intervention focuses on leadership because when commanders are well equipped, they are better positioned to lead from the front,” Ogunsan added.

He also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for what he described as sustained political will and investment in security infrastructure, noting that Lagosians remain central to the funding and success of LSSTF interventions.

“The Governor has remained unwavering in his commitment to public safety. We are only able to do this because Lagosians continue to trust and support the system,” he said.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Fatai Tijani, expressed appreciation to the state government and LSSTF, describing the support as a major boost to operational readiness.

He assured residents that the police force in Lagos remains fully committed to maintaining law and order.

“With the support we continue to receive, we are better equipped and fully prepared. Lagosians should expect excellence in service delivery,” he said.

The latest distribution of protective equipment is part of ongoing efforts to reinforce Lagos’ security framework, with authorities maintaining that the state remains one of the safest and most prepared environments for residents, businesses, and visitors despite wider national security challenges.
