The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has reinforced its commitment to strengthening security operations in Lagos with the donation of bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force formations operating within the state.

The gesture came as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, on Monday hosted the Commanders of the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, NNS Beecroft of the Nigerian Navy and the 651 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force at the Fund’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.

The high-level security meeting underscored the Fund’s unwavering resolve to bolster operational efficiency and strengthen collaboration among frontline security agencies responsible for safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.

During the visit, Dr. Ogunsan formally presented 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic helmets each to the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, the Nigerian Navy’s NNS Beecroft and the Nigerian Air Force’s 651 Base Services Group.

The equipment was received by the Commander of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi; the Commander of NNS Beecroft, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu; and the Commander of 651 Base Services Group, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Mohammed Imam.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan described the military commanders as “the people who keep our nation safe,” while commending the sacrifices and dedication of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force in maintaining peace and stability in Lagos and across Nigeria.

He reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to continuously supporting security agencies with operational resources and logistics needed to effectively combat crime and ensure public safety.

Dr. Ogunsan further disclosed that the new LSSTF office complex, expected to be completed in October, would enhance coordination with security agencies, noting that the facility would serve as a “second office” for the armed forces in Lagos.

He assured the commanders that operational requests channelled through the Lagos State Security Council and other security interventions would continue to receive prompt attention, stressing that the LSSTF places high value on its strategic partnership with the military.

Responding on behalf of the service commanders, Brig. Gen. Owolabi expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their consistent support to the armed forces, describing the donation as timely and impactful.

He assured Lagos residents that the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force would continue to work collaboratively to sustain peace, strengthen security operations and guarantee a safe environment for residents, businesses and investors.

The military commanders also lauded the LSSTF for its sustained interventions, noting that the donated protective equipment would significantly enhance ongoing security operations within Lagos and beyond.
