No Cult Clash in Lagos: Police Dismiss Rumours, Tighten Security in Key Areas

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed widespread reports of an alleged cult-related clash in parts of the state, assuring residents that the situation is under control and poses no threat to public safety.

The rumour, which circulated across communities including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga, suggested a possible reprisal attack linked to an earlier incident. However, the Command clarified that it has already taken swift and proactive steps to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, confirmed that security personnel and operational assets were immediately deployed to the affected locations and surrounding areas following the initial alert. He added that surveillance has been intensified, with officers strategically positioned and patrols increased to ensure maximum security presence.

According to the police authorities, the identified flashpoints are now well secured, with adequate measures in place to deter any unlawful gatherings or criminal activities.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and continue their daily routines without fear, as law enforcement agencies are fully on ground to safeguard lives and property.

The Command also cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of inciting panic, advising the public to rely on credible and official sources for updates. Citizens are further encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace, the Lagos State Police Command stated that it will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure safety and stability across the state.
